Henry van Loon, ambassador of InterActing, will be on stage with the talents of this organization for the first time on July 6 during the Boom Chicago Comedy Festival. InterActing is a theater school for young people with autism, from which a special show team has been assembled.
The InterActing Show Team includes former students aged 18+, who turned out to have extraordinary talent for improvisational theater as well as enjoying being on stage. Their linguistic inventions and filterless jokes makes them born entertainers: they just had to discover that first. With the self-confidence built up at InterActing, they are increasingly taking to the stage, including in June in Houten and monthly at The Academy Jam, where they receive guidance and encouragement.
In doing so, they will be fully supported by theater Boom Chicago. During World Autism Day on April 2, the building will turn blue, a worldwide initiative to draw attention to autism.
Comedian Henry van Loon is involved in InterActing as an ambassador and will perform with the show team and Boom Chicago cast on July 6: “Comedy is for everyone and improv comedy is one of the most fun things to do. If that then also helps people overcome certain challenges, then I am very happy to help as an ambassador to make this a national if not worldwide success.”
InterActing head coach Jake Lefebvre: “I have been able to admire up close the growth of our trainees in general and our show team in particular. Using their talent, they know how to break the stereotypes surrounding autism with abandon. The result is a unique take on comedy: recognizable and fearless.”
